SUMMER CAMP 2004, a report by Kathryn, one of our Junior members.
In July some of the members and some of the parents went camping at Adamswell Youth and Scout Camp, near Langton Green. The members with parents that were also staying and the troupe leaders arrived at the camp site at about 11:30am to put up the large gazeebo and the tents around it. We were finally finished by about 2:30pm, having stopped for lunch and a rest about 12:30pm. The other members camping for the weekend arrived at about 2pm.

From 2pm to about 4pm the members played small games of rounders, polo and football. At about 4pm everyone took part in a treasure hunt which was organised by Linsay, one of the senior members. We were split into five equal groups and given a coloured envelope with an answer paper inside. We had to go around the campsite and look for different coloured envelopes that had been hidden, and we had to find them in the order that they were on our answer papers. Inside the envelopes were questions or tasks that we had to answer or carry out, and there was also something to do, like hop or skip, as we went to our next task. The winner was the first group back with the highest mark, and the losing group had to do a forfeit that was set by the winning group.
That night we had a bar-b-que with burgers, sausages, and salad etc. There was also cakes for pudding. Later in the evening we toasted marshmallows over a bar-b-que. From dinner onwards everyone did there own thing. They may have gone to watch the rabbits, played games or just sat and chatted. We were all in bed by about 11:30pm but many chatted longer.

In the morning we were woken early by a cockeral that didn't know when dawn was. After breakfast the troupe leader took us on an expedition that he had planned. The troupe walked up to High Rocks and explored. We didn't manage to find the maze at first, but realised as we were leaving that we had been in it all the time. The entire morning was spent there and every member enjoyed it. We returned to camp for lunch, which was a buffet served about 1pm, and then the tents were taken down. More games were played and by 4:15pm members were starting to be collected, and by 4:45pm everyone had left the campsite after a very enjoyable weekend.
